Knitting Notions is a family owned and operated business. We opened in 2005 with our first product, our handmade Yarn Swifts, and have added to our product line as our business grew. We now produce a large line of handmade fiber tools for knitters, crocheters, weavers, and spinners. 99% of the products that we sell are made by us or another American small business.
Sock Keeper
Add to Compare
Have you seen this in Interweave Knits? We were featured in Fall 2010 issue!
Our very own Sock Keeper is designed to protect your knitted sock in progress from dropped stitches and lost needles. The simple style is effective and there are no parts or end caps to lose. There is no risk of warping or bending your double point needles with our double pointed needle (or dpn) stitch keepers either since there is no elastic to put stress on them.
We combine several different solid hardwoods by laminating them together to create a beautiful, unique tool. They are hand sanded to a perfectly smooth finish and sealed with linseed oil for a final lasting touch. The cord is worsted weight cotton yarn, which is easily replaceable should you ever need to do so. Each Sock Keeper is a unique combination or walnut, cherry, oak, mahogany, and other exotic woods. They are will usually have a blend of two or more of these woods and no two are exactly alike. The picture is a representative of the product and we will choose the Sock Keeper you receive. Requests may be noted in your Order Comments and we will do our best to accomodate them from what we have in stock.
The groove will accomodate up to a 7" long set of needles, and shorter ones will work as well. I use mostly 6" needles for socks and it works perfectly with these.
To use these you need only to place the work in progress in the groove and wind the cord around until there is just enough cord left to insert in the slits on each end to hold them in place. It's that simple, and they have been well tested by me and others and found to work great!
