Knitting Notions is a family owned and operated business. We opened in 2005 with our first product, our handmade Yarn Swifts, and have added to our product line as our business grew. We now produce a large line of handmade wood and leather products as well as hand dyed merino wool yarns. 99% of the products that we sell are made by us or another American small business.
Edwina is a delicate, top-down triangular lace shawl with traditional and Estonian stitch patterns that flow seamlessly from one to the next until ending in a geometric border that echoes the shapes created by the patterns of the shawl body.
The 10-page pattern is beautifully formatted and includes large, easy-to-read charts and full written row-by-row instructions that have the pattern repeats highlighted in yellow for ease of viewing. (Please note that the version of Edwina included in the Lace Triangle Collection e-book is charted only to maintain consistency with the other chart-only patterns in the collection. I am happy to provide the charted version as well with the purchase of the e-book. Just PM me.) There are also detailed blocking notes and stitch counts listed after all pattern repeats.
Lace weight yarn in a solid or tonal color is highly recommended to showcase the intricacy of this design.
The size of the shawl is very easy to customize by working more or less repeats of the main body pattern, the Estonian Half Leaf pattern. Fingering weight yarn may certainly be used, but will increase the size of the finished shawl and could require considerably more yarn depending on needle size, so please make sure to have extra.
