Knitting Notions is a family owned and operated business. We opened in 2005 with our first product, our handmade Yarn Swifts, and have added to our product line as our business grew. We now produce a large line of handmade wood and leather products as well as hand dyed merino wool yarns. 99% of the products that we sell are made by us or another American small business.
Elizabeth is top-down, triangular lace shawl with charming traditional Shetland stitch patterns and motifs, designed with a modern sensibility. It looks a lot more complex than it is to knit, but don’t tell any non-knitters that, of course!
Elizabeth is offered as a chart-only pattern with large, easy-to-read charts and very detailed instructions on how to use them. Even knitters who have not previously used charts should find these user-friendly and simple to comprehend.
A great shawl to showcase your favorite subtly-variegated hand-dyed or tonal yarns, Elizabeth will also look stunning knitted in solid colors. Lace or fingering weight yarn is suggested for this pattern. PLEASE NOTE: The shawl pictured was knitted with lace weight yarn. When using heavier lace weight yarn on US 4 needles, you may anticipate using between 850-900 yards; when using a lighter lace weight yarn on US 3 needles, you may anticipate using between 800-850 yards. Substituting fingering weight will increase the size of the finished shawl and could require considerably more yarn depending on needle size, so please make sure to have extra. Natural fibers are recommended for the best blocked results.
Also included are two additional instruction sheets “How to Block a Lace Shawl” and “Lace Shawl Knitting Tips” for knitters new to the joys and tribulations of creating lace shawls.
